Timor-Leste Diplomat Attends Course in South Korea

The Ministry of Foreign Affiars had chosen Atanasia Pires from Division of Consular and Nuno Moniz Alves from Division of Protocol to attend a Country Study course in South Korea from 2nd to 10th of March 2003.

"In this course Atanasia and Nuno will talks about the history and society of Timor-Leste, key challenges facing Timor-Leste in relation to the poverty, capacity building, economic transformation and issues about the Timor Gap" said Dra.Vicky Tchong, Acting Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation

"During this course they will discover and try to build cooperation with other nations to look again to the obstacle that Timor-Leste is facing and develop cooperation that will benefit Timor-Leste and nations that give assistance to us" added Vicky Tchong.

"This course is very crucial for Timor-Leste to rise up all the problems that it face, with the intention that will open their mind to help us, especially in area of capacity and trade and investment" said Atanasia Pires.

"In other parts we will talk about the infrastructures and reconstructions that one issue that very important for the society. The objective is to rise up to all these things and to get back attention from other countries in order to get support, especially to get their experts to come to Timor-Leste to help us" said Nunu Alves

It is expected that this course will establish network services and create good relations between Timor-Leste and other countries. According to the program this course will finish on 10 of March 2003. Approximately 20 participants in this course.

The two Diplomats will return to Timor-Leste on 15 of March 2003.
