International Diplomacy Training In Kuala-Lumpur

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation had sent Crisogno de Araujo from the Division of Public Affairs to attend a diplomatic course on Globalization for International Participants 2003 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 3-29 of March 2003.

The Malaysian Government through the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Malaysia offered the course. Jorge Trindade, the second secretary in Timor Leste Embassy in Jakarta, Roberto Soares the Director of Regional Affairs, Francisco Guterres from the Division of Multilateral Affairs and Madalena Filipe from the Division of Public Affairs has done this training in Kuala Lumpur in year 2001 and 2002.

The objective of the course is to enhance participants' knowledge and understanding on the development of various issues in globalization, to upgrade the standard, professionalism and efficiency of participants who are responsible for the implementation of their perspective country's foreign policy and trade.

On the other hand it will also expose participants to Malaysia's initiative and concerns in relation to current global trends and to enable participants to establish networking among them as well as through contact with Malaysia's public and corporate sector communities, aimed at forging mutual beneficial economic, commercial, social and political relations.

Participants will learn through classroom lectures, discussion, practical exercises in groups and individually, simulating exercises; study visit briefings and other extra-curricular activities. This course will be periodically offering by Malaysian government every year.

Additionally, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has organized the two courses for Parliament members on Legislative Drafting in India and Korea last January to present, one for the Council of Minister on Government Account Management on January to March 2003 in India, and the other one training for the National Security in Korea.

Courses for other Ministries include; three training course for staff of Ministry of Education on Financial Management in India, Foreign Service Training Package in Singapore, Cooperative Auditing in Malaysia; three training course for the Ministry of Agriculture on Shrimp Hatchery Operation Management, Irritation System Management, Palm Oil Plantation Management those training is hosts by the Malaysian Government in Malaysia; one training course for the Ministry of Justice for the Trainers in India; three training course for the Internal Affairs on Foreign Service Training Package in Singapore, English Course in Brunei; one training course for the Labour and Solidarity on Foreign Service Training Package in Singapore; one training course for the Trade and Industry on Foreign Service Training Package, for the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Public Works two training on Computer in Brunei, for the Ministry of Finance about six training on English course in India, Anti Poverty Agenda in Malaysia, Computers and English Course in Brunei; two training course for the Tourism and Investment on Sustainable Tourism Development.

Timor-Leste and Malaysia has established diplomatic ties since 2002 with Malaysian Embassy opened in Dili and Timor-Leste's Embassy opened in Kuala Lumpur in late 2002.
