Timor-Leste to Attend the Second Bali Ministerial Conference

Lisualdo Gaspar, Office in charge (OIC) for Regional Affairs, will leave on 26th March 2003 to Jakarta to attend the Preparatory Meeting (PREMET) of the Second Bali Ministerial Conference on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Person and Related Transactional Crimes, which will held in Jakarta on 27th March 2003.

"The objective of this meeting is to set the agenda for the Second Bali Ministerial Conference, when Ministers assemble in Bali on 29th- 30th April to review the activity of Bali Process during the past year and decided the future direction of process", said Mr. Lisualdo Gaspar.

This meeting as the result of the 1st Bali Regional Ministerial Conference (BRMC) on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Person and Related Transactional Crimes in Bali, Indonesia in February 2002.

"It is very important for Timor-Leste to participate in this Bali Process, because this process is not only provide the opportunity to Timor-Leste to learn from the experience of other countries in border management, document fraud identification but also provide networks in information sharing and means of communication in combating people smuggling and human trafficking" added Mr. Gaspar.

The participants of this meeting will be 35 states of Bali Process.
