Giat Mara Welcomes 28 Young Timorese
The Association of Majelis Amanah Rakyat(GIAT MARA) welcomes 28 young Timorese yesterday (9th of July 2003) who are in Kuala Lumpur to participate in a program of Vocational Training provided by the Government of Malaysia in cooperation with GIAT MARA. H.E. Mr.Djafar Amude Alkatiri, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Malaysia, is also attending the "Welcoming Ceremony".
"Welcome to all of you who patiently wait until this happy moment. All these were succeeded from the good cooperation amongst GIAT MARA, Embassy of RDTL, Centro Communidade Islámica de Timor-Leste (CENCISTIL) and Associação Juventude Manufahi (AJM). I encourage you all to show high discipline, politeness, the spirit and will to truly learn all the knowledge and skills provided because through this you will draw a good image of young Timorese and the country," Ambassador said.
In the opening remarks, H.E. Djafar Alcatiri thanked the Malaysian Government for its support and particularly GIAT MARA for its assistance. Ambassador Alcatiri said, "We thank the Government of Malaysia in general and especially GIAT MARA that succeeded our proposal, which enable you (participants) to be here today". To the participants, the ambassador welcomed them and advised to behave accordingly to draw a good image of young Timorese people in the eye of the Government and the people of Malaysia and particularly GIAT MARA.
This training varies from carpentry, mechanic, printing, tailoring, electricity to maintenance and many other skills up to twenty (20) kinds of courses. The participants are expected to benefit a lot of skills and knowledges from this training during the 6-month-period of training. The Ceremony was attended by the Mej. Dr Hj. A Aziz Bin Inrahim, the executive Chief, Abdul Halim Bin Mansor,Deputy Chief of Training and the organizing team of GIAT MARA.
