OFFICIALS OF MFAC WILL VISIT JAPAN THIS WEEK

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has responded positively to the Japanese Government Official Invitation Program for visit of four (4) young Officials of the Foreign Ministry to Japan which will be commenced on 4 - 12 November 2003.

Mr. Roberto Soares, Coordinating Director and Director of Regional Affairs said that “the objective of the program is to provide fresh-hand opportunity for us as young diplomats to meet with Japanese Foreign Ministry’s officials to exchange our views to each other. It is also an opportunity for us to observe and learn about Japanese Foreign Policy including bilateral, regional, multilateral and economic policy cooperation”.

The program is also scheduled to meet with some university students, to visit the museums and historical cities in Tokyo, added Mr. Soares.

The officials are: Mr. Roberto Soares, Team Leader, Mr. João Paulo Rangel, Policy Officer for Consular Affairs, Ms. Dirce Carolina, Policy Officer for Multilateral and Ms. Elisa da Silva, Media Officer for Public Affairs.

The delegates will return to Dili on 13th of November 2003.
