AMBASSADOR TEME ON OFFICIAL VISIT TO ADELAIDE
H.E Jorge da Conceição Teme, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Australia and Mr. Abel Guterres, the Consul General of Timor-Leste in Sydney, have begun an official four day visit to Adelaide in South Australia.
The Ambassador and Mr.Guterres are meeting with the Hon Mike Rann MP, Premier of South Australia, the Hon Rob Kerin MP, the leader of opposition, the Hon Peter Lewis MP, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Hon Ron Roberts MLC, President of the Legislative Council, The Rt. Hon the Lord Major of the City of Adelaide Mr. Michael Harbison and others.
The Ambassador and Mr. Guterres will attend an Official Government Luncheon hosted by the Hon Rory McEwren MP Ministry for Industry, Trade and Regional Development, Minister for Small Business, Minister for local Government and Minister for Forests.
Further more The Rt. Hon the Lord Major of the City of Adelaide Mr. Michael Harbison has stated his strong intention to establish a formal friendship city with Dili. He is going to visit Dili after an official arrangement is made to sing a MOU with the Dili City's authority or relevant Minister. Meanwhile, the East-Timorese Community in Adelaide will have the opportunity to meet the Ambassador and Mr.Guterres during their visit to Adelaide.
On 4–7 November 2003 the Ambassador Teme and Mr.Guterres had a very successful visit to Darwin. This was the Ambassador’s first official visit after he presented his credentials on 29 May 2003.
