TIMOR-LESTE PARTICIPATES THE REGIONAL MINISTERIAL MEETING ON COUNTER-TERRORISM

The Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Noble Peace Prize Laureate Dr. José Ramos-Horta will be leading the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste’s official delegations to participate the Regional Ministerial Meeting on Counter-Terrorism, which will be held in Bali on 4th – 5th of February 2004.

The Regional Ministerial Meeting is to discuss ways and means to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation in Southeast Asia.

The meeting is co-hosted by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Australia which will bring together all high-level delegations from ASEAN member states, Timor-Leste, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, United States of America, Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the Russian Federation, as well as other Senior Representatives of the EU, APEC, Pacific Islands Forum and ASEAN Secretariats.

The RDTL delegations are as follows: H.E. Dr. José Ramos-Horta, Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; H.E. Dr Rogerio Lobato, Minister of Interior; Mr. Nelson Santos, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; H.E. Ambassador Arlindo Marcal, RDTL Embassy Jakarta; Mr. Roberto Soares, Director of Regional Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Mr. Marciano da Silva, Director of Multilateral Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Mr. Paulo de Fatima Martins, National Police Commissioner, National Police of Timor-Leste, Ministry of Interior; Mrs. Filipa de Carvalho, Legal Advisor for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Caetano Guterres, Chief of Staff, Office of the Senior Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

Timor-Leste’s delegation is due to return to Dili on 6th of February 2004. Press Conference will be held upon arrival.
