AMBASSADOR TEME’S OFFICIAL VISIT TO QUEENSLAND, BRISBANE

His Excellency Mr. Jorge da Conceicao Teme, the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Australia and New Zealand, today begins his official visit for four days to Queensland, Brisbane.

The objective of this visit is to explore and develop more cooperation with different the different political parties in Queensland and also to strengthen the relationship that exists between Timor-Leste and the state of Brisbane.

“As this is my first official visit to Queensland, I am going to take this opportunity to make courtesy calls to the Governor of Queensland, the Premier, President of Legislative Assembly, Speaker of the Parliament, Leader of Opposition, Minister for Local Government, Director for Chambers of Commerce, Lord Mayor of Brisbane and other official entities in the State of Queensland, Connect East Timor and the Auxiliary Bishop of Brisbane” said Ambassador Teme.

Ambassador Teme, will also take this opportunity to thank the Government of Queensland for its assistance for the reconstruction and the rebuilding of Timor-Leste.

In addition, the Ambassador will also meet with the East Timor- Brisbane solidarity group and the Timor-Leste- Brisbane Coalition for Goodwill. The meeting will be held on Saturday the 31 July 2004.

The Ambassador will return to Canberra on 1 August 2004.
