The Division of Regional Affairs is a unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The main task of the Division is to foster and strengthen relations between East Timor and world organisations, in particular its relations with regional organisations where East Timor is a part or intends to establish legal relations.
At the same time, it is responsible for developing and maintaining economic development, improving the welfare state, and promoting the benefits of East Timor in the region.

The responsibilities of the Division of Regional Affairs focus on the following central objectives:

• Monitoring processes that facilitate the participation, and the preparation of participation, of East Timor in international bodies and meetings concerning regional political, economic, and cultural matters;
• Guiding and coordinating national participation in regional organisations and meetings;
• whose activities are of interest to the nation;
• Preparing, coordinating, and transmitting instructions, within the scope of the responsibilities delegated to the Division, to East Timor’s diplomatic missions, permanent representatives, and consular ranks, concerning all matters relating to the country’s participation in regional organisations;
• Participating in the formulation, conclusion, and implementation of treaties and agreements concerning the creation, transformation, and abolition of political or international economic bodies, in respect to East Timor’s participation within these organisations;
